The Sudden Impact Program consists of presentations and experiences for multiple age groups and audiences to lessen the number of injuries and fatalities related to motor vehicle crashes. Developed by the trauma team at the former Charity Hospital Trauma Center, now University Medical Center, each presentation or event is provided through invaluable partnership between the local hospital or Trauma Center and the Louisiana State Police. Presenters provide testimony to the consequences of driving impaired, distracted driving and lack of seat belt use. Messages to increase knowledge and promote healthy behaviors are provided by medical, law enforcement, Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency and trauma victims.

Our award winning program currently consists of all 9 LSP troops, 15 hospitals and approximately 60 schools, with continued growth around the state.

The Sudden Impact Louisiana APP is a simple, user friendly application designed to educated the user about the dangers of driving impaired, unrestrained and/or distracted.

Users of the APP have the opportunity to access information within the various tabs (Programs, Community Resources, Events, Education, etc). For instance, parents can get detailed explanations of what the different components of the Sudden Impact Louisiana program cover. They can realize the benefits of all of the reinforcement activities that are involved. Parents also have access to the state laws as well as the Graduated License Law stages for Louisiana.

Both teenagers and parents have access to activities that include a driving log to keep track of required practiced driving hours. There is also be a game formatted to help get additional educational information in a fun way.

Other items of interest include recommendations for best practice in teen driving instruction, as well as PSA videos.
